Pump maintenance and repair service process

KLE provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services for industrial centrifugal pumps used in refineries, power plants, chemical facilities and offshore installations.

Horizontal Pump

Horizontal pump maintenance process

Applicable to horizontal centrifugal pump models such as OHH, HPX and MSD, as well as equivalent configurations.

Assessment
Condition survey and assessment
On-site Inspection
  • Measure vibration, bearing temperature, flow rate and actual head, then compare the results with the design performance curve.
  • Check for abnormal noise and leakage at the mechanical seal and connecting flanges.
  • Review the operating history and identify the root cause when pump performance declines or damage occurs.

Disassembly & Inspection
Disassembly and detailed inspection
Component Inspection
  • Disassemble the rotor assembly, including the shaft, impeller and wear ring; check clearances against the allowable tolerances.
  • Check shaft runout and inspect the impeller and pump casing for corrosion, erosion and cavitation damage.
  • Inspect the bearings, mechanical seal, bearing housing and lubrication system.

Restoration & Balancing
Dynamic balancing and component restoration
ISO 21940 / API 610
  • Dynamically balance the rotor assembly in accordance with ISO 21940 or API 610, as applicable to the technical requirements.
  • Restore or replace worn components such as the wear ring, sleeve and impeller to the original tolerances.
  • Replace the mechanical seal, gaskets and bearings using the correct part numbers and equipment specifications.

Laser Alignment
  • Reassemble the pump using the specified tightening torques and the manufacturer’s assembly sequence.
  • Align the pump and motor shafts using laser alignment equipment, ensuring that deviations remain within the allowable tolerances.
  • Check the cooling and lubrication systems for leaks before carrying out the test run.

Testing & Acceptance
Testing and acceptance
Performance Test Report
  • Conduct no-load and load testing; measure vibration, bearing temperature, flow rate, head and power consumption.
  • Compare the results with the original performance curve and prepare a Performance Test Report.
  • Hand over the pump after confirming that it meets the requirements for safe and stable operation.
